Amazon.com Product Description Capable of holding up to six pairs of skis or four snowboards, this rooftop carrier has locking hoods with oversized push buttons for easy access while wearing gloves and is designed to have snowboards carried base-to-base for maximized carrying capacity. The carrier accommodates alpine and Nordic skis, skis in ski bags, mono skis, and water skis. Made of extruded aluminum with clear anodized coating, it comes with hardware needed for mounting to Thule load bars, and is compatible with clamping systems (not included) for mounting to factory-installed rack systems. Locks and assembly instructions are included. The carrier comes with a limited lifetime warranty against defects. About Thule To say that Thule's beginnings in the U.S. were humble would be an understatement. Founding member Ake Skeppner sold products at windsurf competitions on the New England shoreline, exhibited the product line at a number of different trade shows, and even canvassed local retailers in the greater New York area, all from his "office"--a now-famous station wagon. Initial success was found in the small but growing sport of windsurfing where a strong, reliable roof rack was an indispensable piece of equipment. This was quickly followed by success in the ski business where Thule's Swedish heritage certainly helped the product gain rapid acceptance. By the mid-1980s, the company sold products directly to ski and windsurfing shops but sold through distributors to address the large and growing bike business. A risky decision was made to terminate these distributor relationships and sell direct to retailers through a network of independent sales representatives. Much of the company's market success today can be traced to that decision. Shortly after, Ake hired an engineer and set up a small assembly plant in Elmsford, New York in order to design and manufacture bike carriers that would offer the features demanded by the U.S. consumer and compete effectively with other racks on the market. The company has since grown rapidly through product innovation, a commitment to quality, and the continuance of a strong entrepreneurial spirit as well as continuing to evolve their products to meet the needs of users.

Ski Rack January 7, 2009 Jonkad (Rocky Mountains) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this for my Honda Pilot since I do a lot of skiing. Came as advertised, excellent quality, easy to use and mount. Works perfectly.
Great Snowboard Carrier! February 18, 2009 Barb (VA) This carrier system fit perfectly on my Honda CRV factory rack. It works great and is a relative bargain...highly recommended. Very easy to install and comes complete with locks. Carried 2 snowboards and 2 prs skis with no problem.
Great product February 3, 2010 BHG (MA) Good value. The amazon description is incorrect. This rack will fit almost any factory bar. It was super easy to install and works great. I have a pretty low profile factory cross bar and mine and my husbands skis fit back to back with no clearance issues. I haven't tried it out for snowboards yet though. I'll have to see if my friends fit. But over all very happy.
Easy and effective - should have bought it long ago. February 3, 2010 Don B. (California) This winter I finally got sick of loading my skis (downhill and crosscountry) into the cargo compartment of my MDX. After some basic research, I concluded that this Thule would fit the need.
As usual with Amazon, the order was accepted, filled, and shipped quickly and efficiently - keeping me informed via email every step of the way.
I am not a handyman type guy but this rack could not have been easier to install. 10 minutes in the garage and the only tool needed was a special allen type wrench that was included with the rack! We loaded two pairs of downhill skis yesterday and a single pair of cross country skis today. Both were handled easily and quickly. Although our drive to the ski area isn't long, there was no noticeable wind noise or vibration from the rack. It's easy to load and unload although with a high SUV and a short person you'll probably have to open a car door and step up on the car to reach the back of the rack.
The only trepidation I had was with the enclosed documentation. There is a list of vehicles that this rack will fit and it is NOT the same as the online list. I panicked when my year of MDX was not listed after researching it thoroughly online. It did fit, just an outdated insert, I guess.
To paraphrase an insurance commercial, the instructions and assembly are "so easy a caveman could do it."
Very happy with the product so far.
Like a glove March 10, 2010 B. Powell (Huntington Beach, CA USA) I wasn't sure if this rack would work at first so I went to [...] and checked out their fit guide which said this rack would work for my vehicles factory roof rack (2007 Dodge Nitro). It took me about 20 minutes to install and has worked flawlessly for our recent trips up to Mammoth.
